Condyloma Acuminatum
Condyloma Acuminatum is a sexually transmitted disease and those who indulge in sex with a number of different partners should be especially aware of it as it is the main cause for its spread. Both the sexes are equally susceptible to it unlike many other STDs which affect either of the two. However, women should pay more attention towards it as it may lead to cervical cancer in the later stages which can be very detrimental to any future family plans that may have been thought about. All in all, it is the sexual habits that define whether a person may or may not get affected by this disease.
The HPV or the Human Papilloma Viruses is a family of more than 40 different types and the presence of even one of them is enough to spread the disease. The virus is known to primarily target the skin at the genitals and cause warts. The skin cells begin to proliferate and the whole phenomenon is called genital warts. As already mentioned, unconstrained growth can lead to genital cancers with cervix cancer being the highest probability.
It usually takes about a couple of months before the actual symptoms can be experienced. Effectively speaking, the virus takes some time to manifest unlike the others which are fast. Unfortunately, most people would not be aware of the infection till then and continue to indulge in practices that further fuel the problem. The virus spreads when an infected person has intercourse with one without it. Unknowingly, the virus has spread to a lot of people making it one of the most common types. Use of contraceptives is the only way to stop the virus from spreading, but even they are not hundred percent secure.

The characteristic property of the warts is that they are very contagious and spread by direct contact. In case the warts have spread to a location outside the genitals, it is for the best to refrain from having sexual intercourse. No contraceptive would be helpful in this regard and the condyloma virus is bound to spread. Apart from regular sex, oral sex may too lead to its spread.
Vaccinations against this disease are available in the market. All those who have multiple sex partners are advised to get the shots for safety reasons. Females aging between 9 to 26 years of age can get them while the age ratio is different for men. The vaccination is known by the name Garsasil and taking its shots promises to protect against condyloma acuminatum. By having this precaution in place, the chances of getting infected reduce by considerable amounts. However, this still does not mean that a person may get lenient and stop using protection. Always make sure to use protection as one never knows what STDs the other person may have.
If a person does happen to suffer from this disease, only consult a qualified medical professional who has considerable knowledge in this field. Never try anything on your own, especially playing with the warts.
